“Hurricane Katrina of the 2005 Atlantic hurricane season was the costliest natural disaster, as well as one of the five deadliest hurricanes, in the history of the United States. Among recorded Atlantic hurricanes, it was the sixth strongest overall. At least 1,836 people died in the actual hurricane and in the subsequent floods, making it the deadliest U.S. hurricane since the 1928 Okeechobee hurricane; total property damage was estimated at $81 billion (2005 USD), nearly triple the damage wrought by Hurricane Andrew in 1992.”

The land of the dead was in uproar as the souls of the frightend, of those trapped and drowned poured sreaming into the Shadowlands.

The grief and sense of injustice that was carried over caused the construction of whole new regions beyond the shroud. New Orleans has seen great hardship and death before, the slave trade being responsible for much of the construction of the city’s Necropolis within Stygia. In the wake of Katrina, new Haunts and many Domains opened up.

The dead are angry. The souls of the betrayed bay for vengance. It is unwise to have dealings with Louisiana’s Wraiths unless one is very experienced in such matters.

It is suspected that the Lower Ninth Ward, the area of the city most hevily hit by the catastrophe has become a place that the restless wander. Few mortals and fewer Kindred head into this district after dark.
